Being an educator for over 25 years has allowed me the opportunity to watch trends, initiatives, and programs come and go in education. As a teacher, instructional coach, and principal I have experienced the multitude of challenges schools face. I have learned that the key to successful schools is an effective, impactful, and inspiring leader. I have had leaders that made me want to leave the profession and leaders that I would have followed anywhere.
When I became a principal I vowed to create a school that I would want my own two daughters to attend and become the leader I would want to follow and the leader my staff deserved. Throughout my 15 year tenure as a principal I have always had a fail forward attitude and as a result have learned what it takes to cultivate a positive culture of high standards, create a collective shared vision that drives success, and develop successful systems that empower high functioning teams. |
My approach to collaborative and distributive leadership has helped my school be recognized locally and nationally for academics, behavior, and family engagement. I have had the opportunity to work with current and aspiring leaders through training, coaching, and consultation to help them create a shared vision for their school and develop systems and structures that helped them achieve their goals. I know how hard it is to be a school leader and how lonely it gets at times. We are pulled in so many directions and have so many competing priorities. I am so thankful for the leaders that helped me understand what it takes to be an influential leader who loves what she does and is still passionate about making a difference every day.
